Let your will be done Oh Lord

I am  keeping this case anonymous out of respect for this dear 90 year old mother and her 68 year old severely mentally and physically disabled daughter whom she has cared for alone for the past 30 years.  During most of last year both mother and daughter became very poorly and mum was unable to care for her daughter so her daughter-in-law started preparing meals.  To our amazement Mum started to recover somewhat.

They exist in one small room with a tiny wood heater.  Although Pastor Jackie has offered to renovate an adjoining larger room and put in a larger heater they declined this because their current abode, although small is their little world and the only place that the daughter who is blind and mute is familiar with.  A's  life was from the cot to the commode beside it and back again.  However that has now changed to being cot ridden.  Mama also now spends most of her time in bed.

Words cannot explain what we found on our arrival yesterday.   However here are their facilities.    The temperature was -1C with a biting wind.  We called out and there was no response - no lights.  We entered, the fire was out and the room was freezing.  Jackie and I thought for a moment that they had both died but closer examination revealed that they were breathing but asleep.  We immediately brought  in as many blankets as we could find from the car and lit the fire. They soon warmed up but still they slept.   There was a bowl of pig fat on the table but with mouse dropping in it and a loaf of bread on the table obviously left by the daughter-in-law.   We waited a while until the room had warmed up, then left with a heavy heart but with the knowledge that the daughter-in-law would return later.   Jackie rang their local Pastor who agreed to visit tomorrow.

On the many occasions that we have prayed for this family, S has requested that the Lord takes them home at the same time.  We looked at them both today and prayed that in His Mercy He would grant her wish.

Jackie has also written a moving blog on this case which you may link up to from my blog home page.
