Preparing for Christmas at Mocrea Hospital

Mocrea Hospital currently accommodates  172 mental health patients.  It is about an hour's drive north of Arad.  Today we were a team of 7 and spent the morning making Christmas decorations with the patients from the non-secure wards whilst we all sant carols.  They love to get involved in creative activities and we displayed many of the decorations whilst they enjoyed our coffee, pop and snacks.    We have a close relationship with staff and patients at this hospital and also spent time visiting and praying with the bed ridden.

The construction of a second floor on the ladies wing is currently underway.  Jackie and I recalled our first visit to Mocrea almost 6 years ago when the building was in such a poor state of repair with very few facilities and little food in the store room.  Initially we took along a delivery of food every month.  It took time to build relationships with the management to be allowed to visit the patients to bring love and hope into their lives.  We give thanks that after much prayer the management were able to apply for European Funding to completely renovate the building.

We respect the privacy of the patients and have an agreement with the management that we do not  publish full facial pictures.    Today we observed an unusual tree in the grounds with its branches twisted and turned in all directions.   It was a reminder of how how twists and turns in people's  lives can sadly result in illness of this nature.  Please pray for the patients and that more volunteers will come alongside Jackie in this Ministry.
