Osana Children's Home in Timisoara

After lunch Jackie, Peter and Christine set out for Timisoara to visit the above home.  This journey would ordinarily take an hour but it took us twice as long due to the severe road conditions.  As well as snow and compacted ice underneath, the fresh fall was blowing from the drifts on the road side.  We always pray before setting out on our journeys and God protected us because in the past new days we have seen several accidents.  Romanians tend to drive too fast and too close to each other.

The snow in Timisoara (a larger city than Arad) was very deep.  Cerbu and Nadia and all the children were thrilled to see us.  Cerbu is Romanian and his wife, Nadia is from New Zealand.  They fell in love after meeting in Romania, married  and have 2 girls, one of whom is disabled.  They have so much love in their hearts that they opened up their home to accommodate children in need taken in via the Child Protection Department.  However they keep the girls long term until they decide to live independently.  These girls are so loved and cared for, they are taught life skills, given help with their education and most of all are spiritually fed.  They are taught music and drama and regularly go out with Cerbu to churches or into the market place to spread the gospel.   We met 3 new homeless girls found by Pastor Jackie in the Centre for Minors who joined this family in October.  We give thanks that they are now safe, loved, have hope and a future.

We so enjoyed our value time with all the children just chatting before we gave them their Christmas shoe box gifts which they loved.  A lovely lady called Ann from our Church sponsors one of the girls and so I brought along extra gifts for her and her sister for Christmas plus a Birthday present which they loved.   I have known both girls, who had a horrendous past, since 2005.   Some of the children danced for us to "My Jesus, My Saviour" and"Lord I lift your name on High".  We look forward to seeing them next week at Mocrea Christmas Party where they will again do a puppet show, another drama production followed by a gospel message and a concert of carols.

Out of respect I have not shown full facial pictures of the children.
